Oil on canvas
The support consists of a lined canvas on a wooden stretcher with a crossbar. The canvas is well tensed and in good condition.
The painting is stable beneath a thin glossy and homogeneous layer of varnish that is clear and dirt-free.
The paint layer is thick with vivid colours over a light ground. There are visible brush strokes in the clouds, figures and landscape as well as soft impastos in the highlights and trees. The painting is finely detailed.
Thin craquelure is visible throughout the surface more obvious in the light layers, though well fixed and stable. In general, the paint layer presents good adhesion to the textile support.
Retouching is not visible to the naked eye. UV light examination reveals scattered retouching throughout the sky, stretcher mark (right border) and in the landscape (centre and lower right corner).
The overall condition is very good.
The painting is offered in a gilded frame.
